Serenade in Blue

The Glenn Miller Orchestra performed at Lisner Auditorium Feb. 5 for GW’s President’s Night, an annual event in which President Trachtenberg hosts alumni, faculty and staff members, and other friends of the GW community. The evening was dedicated to GW’s World War II veterans.

After a fun-filled evening of music and dancing, Julius S. Piver, BS ’48, MD ’52, shared these black and white photos at right from his personal collection. The photographs of the Glenn Miller Orchestra were taken by Piver in October 1944, just two months before Miller’s death, when Piver was a member of the U.S. Army Medical Corps stationed in England.
