At the Buffalo Bill Museum Art Show and Sale in Cody, Wyo., Nancy Dunlop Cawdrey, BA ’70, won the Dean St. Clair Memorial Award for People’s Choice Quick Draw. Her piece, “Greased Lightning,” sold for a record $15,000. Cawdrey also hosted an Open Studio Christmas Show on Dec. 8, 2007, where she displayed new silk paintings and other mixed media genres.

Josephine Haden, MA ’72, was awarded a Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Fellowship Award for 2008-09. In January Haden was in a group exhibition in the New York gallery Denise Bibro Fine Arts. Her art also will be featured in the April publication of New American Paintings (Mid-Atlantic Edition), an exhibition in print.

Using acrylic, India ink, pencil, and bleach on canvas, Neal Hutchko, MPA ’00, paints to the music of one band or group, expressing the emotions of the music and the lyrics through his artwork. Two of his works, The Lock and The Storm, will be featured at the University of Mary Washington Centennial Alumni Exhibition from March 13 to June 8. An exhibition of paintings by Sherry Zvares Sanábria, BA ’59, was at Dulles International Airport in Virginia from mid-January to mid-April. In addition, an exhibition of her recent work, images from Southwest France, was at the Hoorn-Ashby Gallery in New York City from March 27 to April 14. Her new painting series of historical architectural structures in Southwest France explores the evocative quality of light.
