Happy Hours in Washington and Northern Virginia
Since September 2006, the Office of Alumni Relations
at the Law School and The George Washington Law
Alumni Association have been sponsoring happy
hours at local watering holes around the region.

Revue Reception
For the 27th year in a row, GW Law students
have written, directed, and produced the
Law Revue, a show that pokes fun at life
as law student. Law alumni, many of whom
participated in years past, met for a theater-themed
reception before this year’s Feb.

Florida Bar Reception
In conjunction with the Florida Bar Mid-Year
Meeting, GW Law alumni met in Miami for
a well attended reception on Jan. 18.
Attendees were greeted by Associate Dean
Steven Schooner, LLM ’89, and Professor
Roger Schechter. Russell E. Carlisle,
JD ’55; Alan T. Dimond, JD ’68;
Stephen M. Carlisle, JD ’87; and
Jacqueline Cisneros Ledón, JD ’05,
hosted the event.

Other Events
Cake
and Champagne with Warren Brown
For the second consecutive
year, Warren Brown, JD ’98, MPH ’98,
wowed law alumni with his delicious spread
of cakes, cookies, and other tasty treats.
After practicing law for a few years, Brown
decided to pursue his true passion—baking—and
is now the owner of the highly successful
café chain “CakeLove”
in Washington, D.C., and Maryland. Law alumni
were all too happy to sample the fruits
of his success.

Government Contracts Alumni and Friends
Luncheon
More than 150 law alumni and
friends met at the Omni-Shoreham Hotel in
Washington, D.C., Feb. 23 to network and
catch up on events in the field of government
procurement law at the Government Contracts
Luncheon.
Night
Out in NYC
More than 100 GW Law alumni
living or working in New York City met at
the swanky “21 Club” Nov. 30,
2006, for drinks, hors d’oeuvres,
and a speech by Dean Frederick M. Lawrence.

and Amir Shaikh, JD ’06, hosted the
event.
Coffee
With Experience
Seventeen alumni representing
14 different practice areas volunteered
their morning Feb. 6 to meet with current
students and share career advice over breakfast
and coffee. More than 50 students selected
their favorites from among a menu of practice
areas and rotated around to talk with the
alumni in small groups. “It was simply
an opportunity to ask about the day-to-day
experiences of lawyers and not sound dumb
by asking, ‘What do you do?’
From this event, I got to cross a few options
off and [learn about] areas I may want to
explore further,” commented a 1L participant.
Dinner
with Alumni in Japan
On Nov. 24, alumni in Japan
met for dinner with Associate Dean Susan
Karamanian and Professors Roger Schechter,
Martin Adelman, Thomas Schoenbaum, and Judge
Randall Rader, JD ’78. Hosts included
Yasuhiro Hagihara, MCL ’68; Yukio
Himuro, MCL ’86; Keiko Imazato, LLM
