Reunion Weekend 2006
Alumni from across the nation gathered at GW
Law in October to celebrate Reunion Weekend. Special
tributes were paid to the Classes of 1956, 1976,
1981, 1996, and 2001. Events included an Old Guard
luncheon, a jazz reception, an emeritus reception,
and a Class Dinner held at the Corcoran Gallery
of Art in D.C.
At the Class Dinner, former Secretary of the
Treasury John W. Snow, JD ’67, received
the J. William Fulbright Distinguished Public
Service Award. Dean Robert V. Stanek, JD ’79,
received the Jacob Burns Award for Extraordinary
Service to The George Washington University Law
School. Dean Frederick M. Lawrence offered Snow
and Stanek his thanks and congratulations, and
welcomed all alumni to the event.
Reunion class chairs were Arnold I. Weber, 1956;
Dick Champion and Alan Dubin, 1976; Eli Ciamrone,
Jill A. Kotvis, and Andrew Perellis, 1981; Laura
Arsenault and Matthew Keiser, 1996; and John Filamor,
Robert J. Garagiola, Janeen M. Thomas, and Venus
Griffith Trunnel, 2001.

Nov. 30—Join GW
Law alumni in New York for a reception at
the 21 Club, 21 West 52nd St. From 7 to
9 p.m., GW Law alumni will mix and mingle
at this popular establishment.
Dec. 6—Cake and
Champagne is back! Food Network personality
Warren Brown, MPH ’98, JD ’98,
owner of CakeLove and LoveCafe in Washington,
returns to his alma mater to discuss alternative
uses of a law degree. He will bring samples
of favorite treats as well as new products
including vegan cakes, low-sugar cakes,
and gluten-free cakes.
Jan. 18—The GW
Law Alumni Association is hosting a Florida
Law Alumni Reception at the Hyatt Regency
Miami from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The event will
coincide with the Florida Bar Mid-Year Meeting.

On July 6, alumni residing in the United
Kingdom met Dean Frederick M. Lawrence
for a dinner at Claridge’s in London.
Alumni shared personal updates and learned
about changes and improvements at GW Law.

Washington-area alumni gathered for an
evening of billiards and buffalo wings at
Finn MacCool’s Irish Publick House
in the Eastern Market on Sept. 28. The event
was hosted by H. Scott Johnson Jr., JD ’00,

Dinner with the Dean in London
Alumni gathered for a pre-game reception,
then traveled to RFK Stadium to watch
the Washington Nationals take on the Philadelphia
Phillies on June 8. The exciting game
ended with a Nationals victory, 5 to 3.
