Sunlight kissed the Potomac as GWs mens rowing
team glided through the water at a dawn practice. The mens
and womens rowing teams combined to score 51 points
and place second out of 12 teams in the 18th Annual GW Invitational
Crew Classic on April 9. The womens varsity eight won
its race, defeating Georgetown by four seconds to capture
the Howard Wilkins Bowl as well as the 1998 Trophy awarded
to the womens team point leader between GW and Georgetown.
Thousands gathered along the Potomac River to witness the
excitement of the races and the beauty of Washington landmarks
with the cherry blossom trees in bloom.
