Several Law Classes Celebrate Reunion Weekend
GW Law held a reunion for several classes Oct. 11-13. Alumni from the class years of '51, '52, '61, '62, '76, '77, '91, '92, '96, and '97 gathered for special celebrations. Events included a reception at the Egyptian Embassy, tours of the new Law School facilities, and separate dinners on Friday evening for class years celebrating anniversaries. Mark your calendars for this year's reunion, planned for Oct. 17 and 18, 2003, which will celebrate the reunions of the law classes of '53, '68, '78, and '93.

At the alumni cocktail reception, gift chairman Dan Black presented the dean with a check from the 2002 reunion giving program. Final tabulations for reunion giving by those anniversary classes totaled more than $700,000.

Alumni Mentor Program Experiences Tremendous Growth
Building on a successful inauguration last year, the Alumni Mentoring Program has grown to encompass almost 90 mentors and more than 200 first-year students. This past fall, the program got off to a wonderful start with individual training sessions for both the mentors and mentees. Following the training, a joint mentor-mentee mixer allowed mentees to “meet their mentors.” Additional joint events, including mixers and panel discussions on topics for 1L's, occurred in the spring semester.
Alumni mentor/mentee pairs have shared lunches, met for cocktails, and exchanged many e-mails and phone calls. Some mentors have given tours of their offices and some mentees have given alumni tours of the Law Schoolówhich has changed a great deal since graduation.

Denver alumni hosted Dean Young for a cocktail reception Feb. 20 at Rothgerber Johnson & Lyons. Judge Carolos Lucero, JD '64, served as chairman of the host committee for the event. Other host committee members were Thomas M. “Trey” Rogers III, JD '97, John R. “Jack” Sperber, JD '92, and Susan L. Sperber, JD '92.

Attention! Seeking Alumni Award Nominations
The George Washington Law Alumni Association is seeking nominations for its Distinguished Alumnus Award and J. Fulbright Distinguished Public Service Award for 2003-04. The Distinguished Alumnus Award recognizes an individual who has made a significant impact through career achievement and contributions to the Law School, financial or otherwise. Past recipients of the Law Alumnus Award include U.S. Senators Harry Reid and Daniel K. Inouye, and Judge Ruth Burg. The J. Fulbright Distinguished Public Service Award focuses on career achievement in the public sector. Past recipients include Law School Professors John Cibinic Jr. and Ralph C. Nash, and Patricia Roberts Harris.
