Reunion 2003

GW Law School held its 2003 reunion Oct. 17-18, during the University’s Colonials Weekend. The reunion honored alumni from the classes of 1953, 1968, 1978, and 1993. Alumni gathered for special celebrations that included a 50th reunion luncheon, a reception and dinner at the new City Museum, law school tours, a mock trial, and a luncheon presentation with Dean Michael K. Young. The reunion weekend evenings finished off with a performance by Whoopi Goldberg on Friday night, and a Beach Boys concert on Saturday night.

Alumni Score a Home Run at Oriole Park

The Maryland chapter of The George Washington Law Alumni Association packed the house Aug. 2 for an evening ballgame at Camden Yards. The Baltimore Orioles hosted, and thoroughly routed, the Boston Red Sox, taking seven runs in one inning for an overall score of 11-2.

Camden Yards enjoyed its second-largest crowd ever for the Orioles’ game against the Boston Red Sox. The Law School crowd, meanwhile, was the largest ever for an Orioles game—more than 100 people. The event was completely sold out, prompting Suzanne Hill in the Alumni Relations office to order two follow-up batches of tickets to satisfy a waiting list.

Alumni ranging from the class of ’49 to the class of 2003, both JDs and LLMs, were joined by faculty and staff members, family, and friends for a happy and memorable evening. With such a strong showing, it’s no wonder the Law School filled almost an entire section of the stands on the lower level. The excellent seats behind right field afforded a great view of the entire field and into the Orioles dugout.

The evening began with a private pre-game dinner at the Championship Café, an Orioles-themed restaurant on the ground level of the ballpark. After dinner, the group filtered out to take their seats for the 7:05 start of play. Most everyone stayed the full nine innings, until long after dusk, to enjoy the Orioles 11-2 victory.

The chapter plans to organize another Camden Yards outing next year, so be on the look out for a related announcement. The event promises to be another hit.
