The Colonials Front Line

GW Football alumni gathered for an early-’60s team reunion May 10-12 at The Woods resort in West Virginia. More than 80 people attended, including 44 former Colonials players, coaches, and support staff. The two former players who traveled the greatest distances to attend the weekend were Pete Sommer, BA ’62, from Bern, Switzerland, and Charlie Reed, BA’63, MS ’64, EdD ’70, of Long Beach, Calif.

This trio of former Colonials gridiron players had plenty of catching up to do at their GW Football reunion: Bob Frulla, BS ’59, former player and assistant coach, Gainesville, Va. and Naples, Fla.; Peter Wasilewski, BS ’62, MS ’65, Ellicott City, Md.; and Frank Pazzaglia, BS ’63, Peckville, Pa.

Paul Kaldes, BBA ’64, Hilton Head Island, S.C.; Mike Sommer, BA ’59, MA ’64, MD ’70, also a former assistant coach, Rehoboth Beach, Del., and Clearwater, Fla.; Buddy Pollock, BBA ’65, Rochester Hills, Mich.; Harry Ledford, AA ’41, a former player and longtime athletic trainer, Elizabethon, Tenn.; Dick Drummond, BA ’64, MD ’67, Potomac, Md.; and Dick Duenkel, BA ’67, Oakton, Va. Duenkel and Rich Hornfeck, BS ’63, MA ’67, Indiana, Pa., and their wives were instrumental in organizing the event and making it a memorable success.
