Les Weinstein, JD '59, LLM '61, was recently appointed director of the alternative dispute resolution program at Los Angeles-based trial consulting firm DecisionQuest, where he leads a team of professionals conducting strategic research and theme development.

Jerry Cohen, JD '62, was elected president of the Massachusetts Bar Foundation. Mr. Cohen is a partner in Burns & Levinson's litigation, corporate, intellectual property, and science and technology practices.

John Holden, JD '68, was listed in the 2012 edition of The Best Lawyers in America. Mr. Holden is a partner in the Dallas office of Jackson Walker.

Gonzalo Biggs, LLM '72, now living in Chile, is a member of the board of directors of the American Arbitration Association and the Roster of Conciliators of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes.

Steven L. Cantor, JD '75, was awarded the Founder's Award for Outstanding Achievement by the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). Mr. Cantor is the managing partner of the Miami-based law firm Cantor & Webb PA.

James Holtkamp, JD '75, was named one of the first senior fellows of the Wallace Stegner Center for Land, Resources, and the Environment at the University of Utah. As a senior fellow, Mr. Holtkamp will be researching, lecturing, and publishing in the areas of air pollution control and climate change.

Deborah Strauss, JD '76, was promoted to counsel at the Washington, D.C., office of Adduci Mastriani & Schaumberg. Her practice focuses on international trade regulation and related civil litigation before federal courts.

Stephen G. Burns, JD '78, was recently appointed head of legal affairs at the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency, where he provides legal opinions, advises management, assists member countries, and contributes to the agency's nuclear law information and education programs.

Dianne B. Elderkin, JD '78, was nominated intellectual property lawyer of the year at the Chambers Women in Law Awards. Ms. Elderkin is a partner in the Pennsylvania-based firm of Akin Gump.

Eric N. Macey, JD '78, was ranked as an Illinois Top 100 Super Lawyer for 2012. Mr. Macey is a founding partner of Novack and Macey, a Chicago-based business litigation boutique.

Susan Ellen Wolf, JD '79, founded Global Governance Advisors LLC in Lenox Dale, Mass. As CEO, she provides consulting services to public company boards of directors, management teams, and investors on governance and disclosure issues.

Pamela Eddy, JD '81, has made her murder mystery Killable Hours (Five Star, 2002) available in electronic form for the Nook and Kindle.

Susan L. Heller, JD '82, was recognized by the Daily Journal as one of its top 25 portfolio managers. Ms. Heller is chair of Greenberg Traurig's global trademark/brand management practice group.

Seth Price, JD '82, a shareholder at Chamberlain Hrdlicka, was listed in Georgia Super Lawyers as a top attorney in Georgia for 2012, an accolade given to the top 5 percent of lawyers statewide.

Clifford J. Shapiro, JD '82, was inducted as a fellow in the prestigious American College of Construction Lawyers. Mr. Shapiro is a partner in the Chicago office of Barnes & Thornburg LLP. He concentrates his practice in construction law and litigation, as well as insurance coverage.

Michael Gottfried, JD '83, has been named managing partner of the Boston office of Duane Morris LLP. Mr. Gottfried specializes in areas of intellectual property and commercial litigation.

Peter Rome, JD '84, was recently named chair of the business/tax department at Ulmer & Berne, where he has practiced for the past 28 years.

Ian Ballon, JD '86, was named New Media Lawyer of the Year by the Century City Bar Association in Los Angeles. Mr. Ballon was also honored by the Daily Journal as one of the top intellectual property lawyers in California for his work at international law firm Greenberg Traurig LLP.

Patrick McGlone, JD '86, was appointed senior vice president, general counsel, and chief compliance offer of Ullico Inc., a Washington, D.C., insurance and financial services company.

Karen A. McGee, JD '88, a partner in Barnes and Thornburg's Washington, D.C., office and a member of the firm's corporate and intellectual property departments, was named in Washington, D.C. Super Lawyers 2012, a listing that appears in the May edition of DC Magazine. Ms. McGee was recognized for her practice in intellectual property, nonprofit, and international work.

David S. Osterman, JD '88, was included in the 2012 edition of New Jersey Super Lawyers. Mr. Osterman is a managing partner of the Princeton, N.J., office of Goldberg Segalla, where he concentrates in complex civil litigation.

Mark A. Robbins, BA '81, JD '88, was sworn in as a member of the Merit Systems Protection Board. He is currently the general counsel of the U.S. Election Assistance Commission.

The 1990s

John Lewis Jr., JD '90, was the 2012 Gora T. Walker Legacy Award honoree at the 25th Annual Corporate Counsel Conference. Mr. Lewis is senior managing compliance and global anti-bribery counsel for the Coca-Cola Co. in Atlanta. He leads all compliance programming for the company's North America business operations and serves as a subject expert on the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and related anti-corruption regulation.

Dennis Arfmann, LLM '91, has joined the Earth Day Network Board of Directors, which helps coordinate Earth Day organizations and promote environmental activism. Mr. Arfmann is a partner at Hogan Lovells LLC.

Michael Scheer, JD '91, has joined the global intellectual property litigation group at Winston and Strawn as a partner in its New York and Los Angeles offices.

Rodney Sweetland, JD '91, has joined Duane Morris as a partner in the firm's intellectual property practice group in its Washington, D.C., office. Mr. Sweetland is also a member of the Federal Circuit Bar Association and the International Trade Commission Trial Lawyers Association.

Audra D. Cohen, JD '92, was nominated as Up and Coming Regulatory Lawyer of the Year at the Chambers Women in Law Awards. Ms. Cohen is a partner in the New York-based law firm of Sullivan & Cromwell LLP, where she specializes in corporate governance, and mergers and acquisitions.

Timothy A. Diemand, JD '92, co-edited the American Bar Association's Handbook on Additional Insureds (Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section, 2012), a comprehensive guide to issues relating to additional insureds that concern both insurers and policyholders. Mr. Diemand is a partner in Wiggin and Dana's litigation department and co-chair of the insurance practice group.

Robert M. Hanlon Jr., JD '92, was named a member of the National Trial College Committee of the American Board of Trial Advocates, a national organization dedicated to educating the public about the history and value of the right to trial by jury and elevating standards of integrity in the legal profession. He was also named to the 2012 New Jersey edition of Super Lawyers.

Sky Woodward, JD '92, was named to Network 2000, an exclusive organization of Maryland business leaders whose mission is to promote the professional advancement of women. Ms. Woodward is an attorney at Womble Carlyle.

Deborah R. Eisenberg, MPA '80, JD '94, was named a 2011 Connecticut Super Lawyer. Her practice, based in Glastonbury, Conn., centers on divorce and custody law.

Lee Hoffman, JD '94, was named by the Connecticut Law Tribune as one of the Dozen Who Made a Difference in the Connecticut legal community in 2011.

Robin H. Rome, JD '94, received the New Jersey Women Lawyers Association's Platinum Award for Private Sector Law Firm for her work as a partner at Nukk-Freeman & Cerra. She was also recently named a New Jersey Super Lawyer.

Katayun Jaffari, JD '95, was included in SmartCEO's list of Philadelphia's Legal Elite for 2011 and named a go-to attorney for business legal advice. Ms. Jaffari was also honored as Committee Chair of the Year for the Philadelphia Bar Association's Business Law Selection. She is a member of the business and finance department at Ballard Spahr.

John D. Roesser, JD '95, a partner in the New York office of Winston & Strawn, was appointed to serve a two-year term as a representative on the ICC Commission on Arbitration. The commission aims to create a forum for experts to pool ideas for new policy on practical issues relating to international arbitration, international business disputes, and the legal and procedural aspects
of arbitration.

Kiyo Oden Tyson, JD/MPH '95, was named general counsel of the Office of Administrative Hearings for the District of Columbia.

Carol D. Deaner, JD '96, was honored as Tennessee's top public service attorney with the 2012 Ashley T. Wiltshire Public Service Attorney of the Year Award at the state bar association's annual leadership conference. Ms. Deaner has served as an assistant public defender for more than 10 years.

Ellen Gilmore, JD '96, was named a shareholder of Greenspoon Marder. Ms. Gilmore joined the firm in 2003 as a member of the firm's corporate and tax law groups.

Andy Irwin, JD '96, was promoted to partner at Steptoe & Johnson LLP, where he is a member of the firm's litigation department.

David Kennedy (Levy), JD '96, founded College Judicial Consultants, the nation's only resource solely dedicated to helping students, fraternities, and sororities resolve college judicial issues.

Steven Khadavi, JD '96, was named head of the New York office of Dorsey & Whitley LLP. Mr. Khadavi is a partner in the firm's corporate group, co-chair of the firm's capital markets practice, and co-chair of the firm's Israel practice.

Regina A. DeMeo, JD '98, is pleased to announce that in addition to opening her D.C. office this fall, she has become a regular commentator on family law issues for Cristina Radio's show Acceso Legal on Sirius XM. Foundation Press also published her essay on the history of the collaborative movement for a Georgetown Law Center textbook, and in June she conducted a webinar for GU alumni. She also appeared on Montgomery County's Money Matters, discussing prenuptial agreements.

Eric R. Fish, JD '98, was elected a partner in the New York office of Baker & Hostetler, where he specializes in complex civil litigation with an emphasis on product liability, toxic tort, and business litigation.

Anessa O. Kramer, JD '98, was selected to serve on the International Trademark Association's Famous and Well-Known Marks Committee for the 2012-13 term. Ms. Kramer is a partner in the intellectual property and technology practice group at Honigman.

Kimberly B. Gatling, JD '99, was named one of Business North Carolina's 2012 Legal Elite for intellectual property law in recognition of her work at Smith Moore Leatherwood. The Legal Elite award is categorized into 14 specialties of law and voted on by attorneys across the state.

Erica Leatham, JD '99, was recently named one of Maryland's Top 100 Women by The Daily Record, an annual award that recognizes the accomplishments of women who have achieved professional success and are making a difference. Ms. Leatham is of counsel at Ballard Spahr's real estate department.

Russell C. Petersen, JD '01, has joined Hanson Bridgett as senior counsel in its San Francisco office. Mr. Petersen is a registered patent attorney with broad experience in patent law and technology-related commercial disputes.

Michael Baratz, BA '99, JD '02, was promoted to partner at Steptoe & Johnson. Mr. Baratz, who is based in Washington, D.C., specializes in complex commercial disputes and fraud as well as white-collar criminal defense.

Edward W. Chang, JD '02, has joined Blank Rome's Philadelphia office as of counsel in the firm's consumer financial services industry practice.

Monica G. Harms, JD '02, a family law principal of Stein Sperling, accepted the Bar Association President's Citation for Outstanding Service at the Bar Association of Montgomery County's 118th Annual Meeting and Law Day Celebration. Ms. Harms, who has served the bar in a variety of roles since 2006, received the same honor in 2007 and, in 2008, was named a bar leader by the Bar Foundation of Montgomery County, Md.

Joseph T. Helmsen, JD '02, was promoted from associate to partner at Pepper Hamilton. A member of the firm's intellectual property practice group, Mr. Helmsen is a registered patent attorney.

Elizabeth Young, JD '04, is the founding director of the University of Arkansas School of Law's Immigration Clinic, where she and her third-year law students guide local residents through the various stages of residency status.

Katy Chang, JD '05, has finished her first documentary feature, Glitter Dust: Finding Art in Dubai, an examination of the city's cultural capital. The film was inspired by Ms. Chang's time in Dubai, where she previously served as policy manager for MBC, the largest broadcaster in the United Arab Emirates.

Brian Nixon, JD '05, has joined the Washington, D.C., office of Loeb & Loeb as an associate in its advanced media and technology department. Mr. Nixon was previously an associate at Davis Wright.

McClain E. Bryant, JD '07, was elected to join the board of directors of Heartland Women's Leadership Council of Kansas City, Mo., where she will serve a four-year term. Ms. Bryant was also named a 2012 Rising Star by KC Business magazine, which honors outstanding Kansas City leaders under the age of 40. She is an associate at Husch Blackwell.
