Dear JKA Karate Club of GWU Member, Alumni, Friend, and Supporter:
We need your generous support
Since 2002, Sensei Haramoto has dedicated himself to teaching GW students and adult members, traditional Shotokan karate and the indomitable samurai spirit of the Japan Karate Association.
In recent years, the JKA Karate Club of GWU has grown to field skillful Karate-ka students who have proudly represented our dojo at national level karate tournaments – achieving numerous first place awards in kumite (sparring) and kata (forms) as well as second and third place finishes. We are very proud of these students and this year, we have additional promising members.
Last semester, two of our former student members were selected to try out for the U.S. national team, and one was selected as an alternate for the U.S. women’s team, which competed at the Funakoshi Gichin Cup 14th Karate World Championship Tournament in Limerick, Ireland this past August. They were selected in part because of their performance at the JKA AF National and Collegiate Championship Tournament in New Orleans in November 2015.
We wish to continue this fine tradition by providing three or more current students with the opportunity and experience to represent the JKA Karate Club of GWU this year at the JKA AF National and Collegiate Championship Tournament in New Orleans on November 10-12, 2017.
Toward this end, we need your support.
We seek to raise $5,000 to cover transportation, hotel, and participation fees.
Since the students must purchase airline tickets and register for the tournament ASAP, we are asking for donations on or before next Wed, October 12, 2017.
GWU Center for Student Engagement has provided the following donation link for your tax deductible donation to support the JKA Karate Club of GWU Team.
Please support this cause with your generous contribution and kindly forward this email to parents, family, friends, and your favorite benefactor!
Thank you for your continued support to assist the students to have an enriching experience that Sensei Haramoto's instruction and training provides.
PS: Please inform me by email of your contribution so we can confirm your donation, and ensure that your contribution goes directly to the JKA Karate Club of GWU.
