On-going Faculty Research
  • Professor Barnhill’s current research centers on bank risk and failures, systemic risk, and fiscal sustainability for developing-country governments. This is especially topical in light of problems faced by Argentina early in 2002. He also continues to work in the area of high-yield bond markets and portfolio valuation and risk management.

  • Professor Carayannis’ current research centers on the study of technology and innovation management and how they impact new ventures formation and financing in both developed and transitioning economies. Entrepreneurial initiative and growth has been a major force of economic development and currently, appears particularly promising for transitioning and developing economies in the context of globalizing markets, technologies and institutions.

  • Professor Weiner’s research centers on global finance and investments as well as global energy markets, with a recent emphasis on turmoil and change.

  • Mr. Vizas, an entrepreneur with extensive, successful experience in founding and funding global technology businesses, worked intensively with the faculty sponsors in the definition and refinement of the Institute and its research agenda, drawing on his experience in U.S., European and Asian capital markets, in working with development stage businesses, and in the United States government. Mr. Vizas has hands on experience leading teams in the sourcing and structuring of global financing for new businesses and major projects; in helping to craft business approaches and capital structures that accommodate the realities of government policies; and in guiding development stage companies.
