| This painting was inspired by a Peale portrait of two of the brothers on a stairway. Wright decided that the door to his studio would make an interesting painting and created his image with a shifting vanishing point along the station line. We see Jim Muell painting as Wright paints in the background. Student, Bill Reynolds opens the door. |
