The Encounter. 1966. 15.75x19.375. Deep-bite etching.

Although this print was completed in America, it was based on dozens of earlier European sketches taken from photographs by Eadweard Muybridge and Mathew Brady. The most complex of Wright's battle scenes, this print was completed during the Vietnamese War. It is considered the artist's most powerful anti-war statement.
