Background

This online exhibit recreates an exhibit which opened in the United States Court House in Manhattan in 1989 and was shown at several locations in New York State, Washington, D.C.'s Union Station, James Madison's Montpelier and The George Washington University. The exhibit was sponsored by the Second Circuit Committee on the Bicentennial of the U.S. Constitution. The funders were: the Foundation for the Federal Bar Council, the New York State Commission on the Bicentennial of the U.S. Constitution, and the U.S. Capitol Historical Society. A short history of the First Federal Congress by the same title is available from Rowman & Littlefield Publishers (ISBN 978-0-945612-14-8) in both paperback and eBook.
