Daughters of American Revolution Graduate Scholarship

Purpose and Eligibility

For the 2019-2020 academic year, the District of Columbia Daughters of the American Revolution (D.C. DAR) will be awarding at least one fellowship at a minimum of $3,000 in tuition. Applicants must be United States citizens and current GW master's or PhD candidates, enrolled for at least six credits a semester in one of the following fields:

Master's and/or PhD programs in CCAS (if students are concentrating on the colonial period through 1830):

  • MA – Museum Studies (with a focus on American Fine/Decorative Arts)
  • MA or PhD– American Studies (including concentrations in Folklore, Historic Preservation in Museums and Materials)
  • MA or PhD –History (including concentrations in Historic Preservation, History and Public Policy, Imperial and Colonial Culture, U.S. Legal History and American Religious History)
  • MA – Art History

All application materials must be submitted via the online fellowships application portal by the deadline, this includes recommendation letters. Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered (including recommendation letters). Instructions on how to apply through the portal can be found here.

*If you receive another award, you will need to check with the other unit (GW department or school) to ensure that award is also stackable and can be combined with this award. Note that the total of combined awards cannot exceed the cost of tuition.
