Daewoo Vietnam Scholarship

The purpose is to help promising Vietnamese graduate students to pursue advanced degrees in the School of Business at the George Washington University. Recipients must intend to return to Vietnam immediately after receiving their degree to apply their new knowledge to advancing Vietnam.


The Daewoo Corporation established an endowment at GW to offer scholarships of up to $15,000 (fees excluded) for the period of one academic year, renewable and non-renewable. (Awards do not cover Summer Sessions.) Renewal applications (for renewable awards) may be submitted to renew the Scholarships for one year for Master's students or one to four additional years for doctoral students, depending upon the program of study. This award is stackable.*

Eligibility Requirements

All recipients must be full-time Master’s or doctoral students (applicants or current students) at the George Washington University and demonstrate high scholastic achievement by maintaining required academic averages for their programs of studies. Eligible fields of study include accountancy, finance, information systems, international business, supply chain management, marketing, and science technology and innovation. (Executive programs are not eligbile.) Incoming students must have passed the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum score of 600 on the paper-based exam or 100 on the internet based exam, or an IELTS overall band score of 7.0 (with no individual band below 6.0). To ensure that recipients return to Vietnam and contribute to the further development of their nation’s growth following the receipt of their degree, an F-1 visa is required.

Students working in a benefited position at GW are not eligible.

*If you receive another award, you will need to check with the other unit (GW department or school) to ensure that award is also stackable and can be combined with this award. Note that the total of combined awards cannot exceed the cost of tuition.
