The Eleanor Roosevelt Papers

Eleanor Roosevelt to John F. Kennedy

January 28, 1961

Arizona Inn
Tucson, Arizona

Dear Mr. President,

I wanted to tell you how I felt about your inaugural address. I think "gratitude" best describes the sense of liberation and lift to the spirit which you gave. I have re-read your words several times and am filled with thankfulness. May we all respond to your leadership and make your task easier.

With all good wishes to you and your wife.

Cordially yours

Eleanor Roosevelt
