Law School Classrooms Open, Infill Progress Continues
30,000 Square Feet Added to Complex
A $2.8 million renovation of classrooms and facilities
at the GW Law School was recently completed. The renovation project
provides extensive refurbishment of facilities at the Burns/Stockton/Lerner
halls complex.
Twelve classrooms totaling more than 18,000 square feet were renovated
and received new furniture, paint, carpeting, and electronic hardware.
The renovations provided high-tech classroom additions such as smart
podiums. The new lecterns, housing a built-in PC with a CD/DVD
drive and access to the Law School network, allow for Internet access,
video conferencing, and telecommunications.
The renovations are only part of the substantial changes at the Law
School. Construction continues at the Law School infill project, a 30,000
square foot addition connecting the Burns/Stockton/Lerner halls complex
and the Stuart/Lisner halls complex on all five floors.
When completed the addition will contain faculty and administrative
offices, as well as conference and seminar rooms. The facade of the
1890s townhouse has been affectionately retained, utilizing many of
the charming architectural style of the original design.
Exterior work on the infill is nearing completion and interior construction,
including mechanical and electrical work, is well underway. Occupancy
is expected later this academic year.
