GW to Hold Second Annual Compliance Awareness Fair

By Frank Broomell

To raise awareness of the legal and regulatory issues the University and its employees face and the resources available to cope with them, GW will hold its Second Annual Compliance Awareness Fair on Sept. 18. The fair will be hosted by GW’s Compliance and Privacy Office and will take place in the Marvin Center’s third floor Continental Ballroom from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“There are hundreds of regulations that may affect someone every day,” says Colin Clasper, assistant vice president for University compliance. “The goal of the fair is to increase communication and to allow personnel to learn about requirements and resources in a more relaxed, collegial atmosphere.”

Nineteen departments from across GW will present information and answer questions regarding compliance issues relevant to their work. Participating offices include Health Research, Compliance and Technology Transfer, Office of Research Training and Compliance, Human Resource Services, Information Systems and Services, Payroll Services, Risk Management, and Supply Chain.

The fair will also include fair-style food, giveaways, expert speakers, and drawings for numerous prizes, including iPods, athletic tickets, and GW apparel and gifts. More information on the fair is available at http://www.gwu.edu/~comply/fair/fair.html.
