GW Lecture “Breast Cancer — Knowing Your Choices, From Diagnosis to Treatment and Reconstruction” Rachel F. Brem, MD, director of breast imaging and intervention, SMHS; Christine B. Teal, MD, FACS, director of the breast care center, chief of breast surgery, SMHS; and Joanne J. Lenert, MD, assistant professor of surgery, SMHS. The greatest weapon against breast cancer is early detection. But for some women, physical examination and mammography are not enough to detect the hardest-to-find cancers. Lecture “Alexandra Villard de Borchgrave” Poet Alexandra Villard de Borchgrave presents a slide presentation of her new book Healing Light: Thirty Messages of Love, Hope, and Courage. Borchgrave’s poems, a personal response to the tragic events of Sept 11, 2001, are coupled with elegant paintings from Mughal India, including several from the Freer collection.
