GW President Steven Knapp addressed the GW faculty officially for the first time at the annual Faculty Assembly, Sept. 10 in Lisner Auditorium. This is a special meeting of the GW Faculty Senate at which new members are formally introduced to their colleagues. In addition to being GW's new president, Knapp introduced himself as a member of the English Department faculty. Knapp lauded GW faculty's research and academic achievements. “My job is to understand what interests you, and why, so I can remove any roadblocks to your pursuing those interests; and also so I can convey to potential partners and supporters the impact that your doing so is likely to have,” said Knapp. “Together, we can build the pre-eminence in research that GW aspires and deserves to enjoy.” To read Knapp’s full address, visit http://president.gwu.edu.
