Lecture: Robotic Exploration of the Moon: Preparing the Way for Human Return
It may sound like science fiction, but it’s just science: the next steps in space exploration may involve robots deployed to study the unexplored energy resources at the moon’s poles. Professor Paul D. Spudis of the Applied Physics Laboratory explains the ways in which robotic missions to the moon are crucial to gathering information on the use and exploration of planetary surfaces. David Harrington (violin), John Sherba (violin), Hank Dutt (viola), and Jeffrey Zeigler (cello) play a selection of pieces from throughout their musical career. The second half of the program includes the D.C. premiere of Michael Gordon’s The Sad Park, featuring recordings of children from a nursery school in lower Manhattan made between September 2001 and January 2002. 7 p.m. at Lisner Auditorium. Flu Shot Clinic
