Kalb Show Checks the Paper Trail
Leading Journalists Join Host for Discussion About
Foreign News Coverage and the Economic Impact on American Newspapers
Gil Cranberg, professor emeritus from the University
of Iowa; Tom Curley, president and publisher of USA Today; host Marvin
Kalb, executive director of Harvard Universitys Shorenstein Center
on Press, Politics, and Public Policy; and Robert Rosenthal, former
editor of the Philadelphia Inquirer; debated the influence outside forces,
such as market share, have on American newspapers before an audience
in the National Press Club ballroom. Also featured on the panel were
Geneva Overholser, professor and media commentator from the University
of Missouri School of Journalism; and Tom Wolzien, senior media analyst
with Sanford C. Bernstein & Co., LLC. Produced by GW, The
