By Julia Parmley

At an Oct. 7 grand opening ceremony, GW celebrated its new Alexandria Graduate Education Center, located three blocks from the King Street Metro station.

GW President Steven Knapp, Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs Donald R. Lehman, and Alexandria Mayor William D. Euille spoke at the event. The University also presented an annual full-tuition scholarship to Euille and the city of Alexandria to be awarded to a citizen or employee of the city in return for community-based service.

GW’s Alexandria Graduate Education Center houses programs in art therapy, educational administration and policy studies, educational leadership and administration, engineering and technology management, engineering management and systems engineering, health care corporate compliance, human resource development, landscape design, law firm management, publishing, school counseling, strategic public relations, survey design, and sustainable landscapes.

The 24,000-square-foot education center features smart classrooms, a computer lab, six counseling rooms, an art studio with original multimedia art, student lounge and kitchen, and a terrace overlooking Carlyle Circle.
