Justice Breyer Celebrates Anniversary of Landmark Article at GW Law Supreme Court Justice Stephen G. Breyer delivered an address during a two-day symposium at GW’s Law School. Held Oct. 11-12, the symposium celebrated the 40th anniversary of GW Professor of Law Jerome A. Barron’s 1967 landmark article “Access to the Press—A New First Amendment Right.” In his remarks, Breyer praised the article’s ability to encourage readers to consider what a democracy is and how it should function. “I could not be more pleased to be here at the beginning of what I think will be a valuable conference,” he said. The symposium was sponsored by GW’s Law Review.
