GW’s MBA Program Ranked Sixth Globally for Social and Environmental Stewardship

The World Resources Institute and the Aspen Institute recently ranked GW’s School of Business sixth in a listing of the top 30 global MBA programs, and third among United States universities.

The biennial ranking, entitled Beyond Grey Pinstripes, measures the extent to which business schools prepare their students for the reality of tomorrow’s markets, equipping them with an understanding of the social, environmental, and economic perspectives required for business success in a competitive global economy. This is the fifth time GW has been recognized in the report.

“Part of our strategic direction is to prepare students to become productive and principled members of society,” said Dean Susan Phillips. “In doing so, we plan to exercise continued leadership in social, environmental, and ethical business stewardship as well as to expand our focus to include even more students, faculty, programs, and courses.”

The GW School of Business distinguished itself not only by offering a large number of courses that addressed social and environmental issues in business, but also by the relatively large proportion of students who actually took those classes.

Beyond Grey Pinstripes identified the top 30 MBA programs among 600 programs from six continents. Researchers analyzed 1,842 courses, 1,713 extracurricular activities and programs, and 828 peer-reviewed business journal articles for the report. A full description of the report, its methodology, and individual MBA program ratings is available online at beyondgreypinstripes.org.
