Tillery Becomes Deputy Mayor of DC

Former SBPM Adjunct Heads DC Operations

DC Mayor Anthony Williams named Herbert Tillery, executive director for the Center for Excellence in Municipal Management and adjunct assistant professor of public administration, SBPM, to the position of deputy mayor for operations.

“Herb Tillery’s extensive experience in senior executive level human resource management and development, along with his solid organizational skills and his reputation for innovation and vision, make him extremely well-qualified for this position,” says Williams in a news release.

As deputy mayor, Tillery will provide leadership and direction in the management of the following agencies: Motor Vehicles, Public Works, Transportation, Procurement, Personnel, and Property Management. He also will coordinate technology issues across the government with the city administrator and oversee the Operational Improvements Division.
