News Brief:
ISS Searching for CMail Replacement

GW’s Information Systems and Services (ISS) is searching for a new e-mail solution for faculty and staff to help increase productivity and improve the ease of daily communications. The current e-mail system, Colonial Mail (CMail), is being phased out
because of the high costs associated with on-site e-mail storage.

ISS is evaluating alternative solutions, which include Google Mail, GroupWise and Microsoft’s Hosted Exchange. The selected system will act as a collaborative tool that has e-mail and calendar integration, improved calendar features, and increased mobility support. A committee, with faculty representation, has been formed to evaluate the alternative solutions. Additional opportunities for faculty and staff involvement will be announced as the University gets closer to choosing a solution.
