GWids Required for GWeb Information System Access

Beginning Nov. 28, all members of the GW community were required to use their GWids, nine-character alphanumeric identifiers, to log into the GWeb Information System.

To protect the GW community from identity theft, GW began eliminating the use of Social Security numbers, wherever possible, during spring semester 2006. The majority of University offices and departments, including the Office of the Registrar, the GWorld Card Office, and the Gelman Library System, now require the use of GWids.

GW community members can retrieve their GWid online by visiting http://gwid.gwu.edu. Faculty and staff members needing assistance should contact the ISS Help Desk at (202) 994-5530, while students should contact Student Technology Services at (202) 994-7041 or sts@gwu.edu.
