GW Names Four New Trustees And Two New Emeritus Trustees

The George Washington University Board of Trustees elected four new trustees and two new emeritus trustees during its meeting held this summer in Washington, DC. The 33 members of the Board of Trustees provide governance and counsel on the management, direction, and strategic plan of the University. Twenty-six of the trustees are alumni of the University.

Newly elected charter trustees are Gary C. Granoff, BBA ’69, JD ’73, chair and president of Ameritrans Capital Corporation, who has previously served on GW’s Board of Trustees; and Ambassador Delano Lewis, honorary DPS ’91, former United States ambassador to South Africa and formerpresident and chief executive officer of National Public Radio.

Newly electedalumni trustees are Gerald Lazarus, MD ’63, director of the Wound Healing Center and chief of dermatology at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center; and Jeanette Michael, JD ’75, executive director of the DC Lottery and Charitable Games Control Board.

Newly elected emeritus trustees are Joseph L. Brand, JD ’63, a partner at Patton Boggs, LLP; and Morton I. Funger, BA ’53, a
partner at Ralmor Corp.

diligently served their alma mater and helped ensure a bright future for the University,” said President Stephen Joel Trachtenberg. “GW also is honored to have a group of incredibly qualified individuals join its Board of Trustees. The Board’s guidance continues to help us enhance the quality and reputation of The George Washington University.”
