New Overnight Shipping System Announced

GW Supply Chain Organization recently announced a new overnight shipping system that promises to relieve the confusion and cut the costs of overnight shipping. With the implementation of the Accuship S*T*A*R*S system, authorized departmental users can get competitive rates, select a shipper, and print and
track their shipments right from their own desktops.

Up to now, departments have had no easy way to know the cost of sending an overnight package or letter or to compare rates between FEDEX, UPS, and DHL without a tedious examination of fine print rate schedules.

Shipping with Accuship is simple and straight forward: enter the recipient’s address; check competitive rates; and, print the shipping label.

In checking competitive rates the S*T*A*R*S system reviews the discounted rates GW has negotiated with FEDEX, UPS, and DHL. Depending upon the supplier and service required, the cost of shipping can rangefrom more than $50 for nextday 8 am delivery, to less than $15 for later that same day. Shipping second-day will save you even more.

Departments that ship to a regular list of recipients can create and maintain their own address book, making future shipments for those recipients even easier.

In addition to making the shipping process easier, the S*T*A*R*S system also makes billing easier.

All departments are urged to sign up for the S*T*A*R*S system free of charge. Departments which have used FEDEX, DHL, or UPS in the past have been automatically set up and contacted. Those interested in test driving the S*T*A*R*S system should E-mail Sipho Molife in Accounts Payable Services, at smolife@gwu.edu.
