GW Invitational Crew Classic April 8

The 19th annual GW Invitational Crew Classic, the largest college rowing competition in the Washington, DC area, will be held April 8. Preliminary heats start at 9:40 am with finals begining by 1:30 pm. The 2,000 meter course runs from near the Spout Run area of the Potomac River to the Thompson’s Boat Center. Schools competing with GW for the Gilbert H. Hood, Jr. Point Trophy include Georgetown, University of Virginia, Marietta, Saint Joseph’s, the University of Southern California, the University of Cincinnati, and the US Naval Academy. Teams will be competing. Virginia won the trophy last year with 61 points, while GW came in second with 57. Spectators interested in watching the races can go to the Harbor Place in Georgetown or along the Key Bridge. The GW women’s crew will not be participating this year due to a scheduling conflict.
