Elizabeth Amundson Named New University Registrar
By Eric
Solomon
GWs Office of Academic Affairs announced
the appointment of Elizabeth (Beth) Amundson as University registrar effective
Nov. 29. Amundson oversees such functions as class registration, academic
records, classroom scheduling and degree certification.
Amundson is no stranger to the University. She is a two-time GW alumna,
earning a BA in sociology in 1986 and her MA in higher education administration
in 2001, and served as assistant and associate registrar at GW from 1998
through 2002. Amundson returns to GW after serving as registrar of The
Johns Hopkins University School of Professional Studies in Business and
Education.
[Amundson] was the unanimous first choice of the search committee,
said Craig Linebaugh, associate vice president for academic planning and
development. She brings back to GW her strong customer service orientation,
an in-depth knowledge of the Banner Student Information System, and experience
managing a complex and diversified registrars operation. The members
of the committee feel strongly that she is the ideal person to lead the
Office of the Registrar both in enhancing customer services and in expanding
the application of technology.
