Redstone and Buffett to Speak at GW

Business School Guests Bring Acumen and Insight to Campus

Two business powerhouses will visit GW this month as Viacom Chair and CEO Sumner Redstone and Berkshire-Hathaway Chair and CEO Warren Buffett deliver remarks to the School of Business and Public Management’s students, faculty and staff.

Redstone is scheduled to speak Nov. 6 at 6:30 pm in the Media and Public Affairs Building as part of the annual Robert P. Maxon Lecture Series. Under Redstone’s leadership since June 1987, Viacom has become one of the world’s largest entertainment and media companies, and a leader in the production, promotion and distribution of entertainment, news, sports, music and comedy. Viacom’s properties include CBS, MTV, Nickelodeon, VH1, BET, Paramount Pictures, Viacom Outdoor, Infinity Broadcasting, UPN, TV Land, Country Music Television, Comedy Central, Showtime, Blockbuster and Simon & Schuster.

Buffett’s question and answer session with MBA students is slated for Nov. 13 at 2:30 pm. Known as the “Oracle of Omaha” for his investment advice, Buffett serves as chair of the board and chief executive officer of Berkshire Hathaway Inc., a diversified company whose business activities include insurance underwriting, newspaper production and retailing. He is estimated to be worth $35 billion, second in the world only to Microsoft’s Bill Gates.
