Joining Forces for Foggy Bottom

GW and Its Neighbors Pooled Efforts for Clean Up, Friends Celebrate Community at Block Party

In an ongoing effort to bring together the Foggy Bottom and GW communities, a neighborhood clean up was held Oct. 25. Students, staff and neighbors scoured Foggy Bottom’s streets collecting trash and making the neighborhood more beautiful. The Foggy Bottom Clean Up, co-sponsored by the Student Association and Residence Hall Association, has become an annual rite in the neighborhood.

The following day, FRIENDS, a Foggy Bottom community group, held a block party in the Eye Street Mall between Ross Hall and the GW Hospital. The festivities featured a number of activities and displays, including food, music and other entertainment, as well as information booths detailing the services and events in the Foggy Bottom/West End area.

Among the many groups on hand for the event were representatives from the Red Cross, the Mayor’s Community Outreach, area churches and the GW Medical Center.
