Red Auerbach is Telling Stories

Legendary basketball coach and GW alumnus Red Auerbach was back on campus Oct. 25 for a special Smith Center reception marking the release of a new book he co-authored with bestselling sports writer John Feinstein. The book, Let Me Tell You a Story: A Lifetime in the Game, recounts Auerbach’s experiences in sports, from his childhood in Brooklyn to winning a record nine NBA championships as head coach of the Boston Celtics.

About 100 basketball fans, including Colonials season ticket holders and GW community members, turned out for some face time with Auerbach and Feinstein and to have their books signed.

Feinstein, who has written several books about the game of basketball, including A Season on the Brink about college coaching legend Bobby Knight, had high praise for Auerbach. “I’ve done 16 books now, and I can honestly say that I’ve never had more fun than with this one,” said Feinstein.
