Security Awareness Day Events

Educause, a nonprofit association whose mission is to advance higher education by promoting the intelligent use of information technology, and GW’s Information Systems and Services will host Security Awareness Day events Nov. 1 in the Marvin Center. The theme of the day-long event is “Awareness is the Key to Security,” and hopes to promote information security awareness to the entire University and educate the community, identify and address information technology risks, promote and encourage good security habits through presentations, training, and carnival-like games.

Topics for the discussions include: “Cybersleuths: High Technology Crime Investigators”; “How Direct Recording Electronic (DRE) voting machines can do tomorrow what a paper ballot count could not do in the 2000 election”; “Information Security: From Brains to Bits”; and “Exploitation and Countermeasure in Open-access High-speed Networks.”
