GW Makes National Rankings

GW recently ranked 51st among the top 123 colleges and universities listed by number in the latest “America’s Best Colleges” issue of US News & World Report, a guide for college-bound students. In all, 248 national universities responded to the magazine’s annual survey.

Among the gains for GW in the latest survey — which compared 2002–03 data with that of the previous academic year — were an increase in the average SAT scores from 1150–1330 to 1170–1360 for incoming freshmen. GW also became more selective in the percentage of applicants it accepts; from 49 percent to 40 percent.

GW also recently made the top 10 in three categories of the 2003 edition of the Princeton Review’s “Best 351 College Rankings.” GW is among the top three of “Most Politically Active” universities in America, placing ahead of schools such as Georgetown and University of California-Berkeley.

GW’s other rankings included a No. 10 for Social/Great College Towns, and a No. 10 for Quality of Life/Dorms Like Palaces.
