New Library Loan Policies in Effect


Gelman Library and its area university partners have enacted new borrowing policies. Loan periods apply to all books from GW or other schools.

•Faculty: three fixed due dates per year (1/31, 5/31, 9/30) with a loan period of up to four months
•Graduate students: 42 days
•Undergraduate students: 28 days
•Staff: 28 days

The following policies and charges apply to all patron groups:
•Renewal limit: two
•Grace period: three days
•Daily fine per book: $0.25
•Maximum overdue fine: $10
•Lost book notice interval: 39 days
•Minimum fine for blocking: $25
•Daily recall fine: $5
•Maximum recall fine: $25
•Recall grace period: 0
•Lost processing fee: $30
•Lost replacement fee: Bowker average ($57)
•Overdue limit: five
•Item limit: 0 (GMU = 25)

Participating consortium libraries are American University, Catholic University, Gallaudet University, George Mason University, Georgetown University, Marymount University, University of DC and Trinity College.
