GW Hosts HOBY

University Invests in Programs to Enhance Educational and National Recognition

For the second consecutive year, GW hosted the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) World Leadership Congress, July 13–21. The congress, founded in 1958 by legendary actor Hugh O’Brian, provides a forum for high school sophomores from every state and more than 20 countries to partake in a unique leadership development seminar with some of America’s top decision-makers and corporate executives.

Student representatives from the 50 states are chosen through a lengthy process. Beginning last September, more than 13,000 public and private high schools nominated their outstanding sophomores to attend one of 85 three-day HOBY Leadership Seminars. In turn, one male and one female student were selected from each site to attend the World Leadership Congress.
