GSEHD, CISCO Launch New Web Design Program

The Graduate School of Education and Human Development (GSEHD) and Cisco Systems have joined forces to offer a graduate certificate program in advanced Web design and application in education. The first of its kind program offers Cisco Certified Academic Instructor (CCAI) training in advanced Web design as part of a graduate certificate curriculum.

Offered through GSEHD’s Department of Educational Leadership, the graduate certificate program will prepare practicing teachers and other educational professionals to develop educational Web sites and teach students how to develop them. The program, offered as a four-course sequence including an internship, combines both distance and face-to-face learning, and can be applied toward earning a master’s degree in educational technology leadership, which also could lead toward CCAI certification.

The four-course graduate certificate program responds to a growing demand for integrated technology in classrooms. Although a number of institutions and organizations in the DC metro region offer credit and non-credit coursework in various technologies to teachers, this is the only program designed specifically to provide pedagogical training for teachers in advanced Web design.
