CLLC Offers New Housing Selection Options

The Community Living and Learning Center (CLLC), in partnership with The George Washington University Residence Hall Association (RHA), is offering GW students new options this year during “Housing Selection 2005,” scheduled to take place online on Feb. 27 for rising juniors and seniors. Rising sophomores will select housing online Feb. 28, March 2, or March 3.

With customer service continuing to be a focus of the housing selection process, 2005 boasts a number of changes that are a direct result of student feedback. This year students will receive housing selection numbers before the “squatters’ rights” process, enabling them to weigh the option to participate in housing selection or “squat” in their current assignments. A new housing cancellation policy also is being adopted, whereby any rising junior or senior participating in housing selection can cancel their housing assignment by May 2, with only a $300 cancellation fee. This new policy allows students greater freedom in making their housing decisions. Finally, as was the case last year, rising juniors and seniors living off campus may participate in Housing Selection 2005 and receive an on-campus housing assignment.

“Squatters’ rights” will be available Feb. 3–8 for rising seniors in residence and any resident of the Mount Vernon Campus, allowing students to remain in their current spring 2005 housing assignments for the fall 2006 semester. “Early Housing Selection” will be available on Feb. 10 for students intending to study abroad for the fall 2005 semester.
