Black Enterprise Ranks GW Among Top 50 Universities
In its review of the leading universities, The 50 Best Colleges
for African-Americans, Black Enterprise magazine ranked
The George Washington University 24th in the nation. This marks an improvement
from GWs previous 31st ranking.
This puts us in some very good company and underscores the importance
GW places on being among the best and most welcoming universities in
the country for all students, says President Trachtenberg.
According to the article, which appeared in the magazines January
2003 edition, 482 accredited four-year institutions were chosen for
review based on two criteria: whether they had an African-American student
enrollment of at least 3 percent, or whether they are a large
or well-known university.
The magazine then surveyed nearly 2,000 prominent African- American
higher education professionals about the qualifying schools social
and educational environments for African-American students.
