Trachtenberg Assumes Chair of DC Chamber
of Commerce

President Stephen Joel Trachtenberg began his term as chair of the District of Columbia Chamber of Commerce (DCCC) Board of Directors at the organization’s annual meeting at the Madison Hotel Nov. 13. He will serve in the position for the next year.

“In Stephen Trachtenberg, we are not only getting a scholar and an intellectual, but we are also getting a visionary who will be a major asset to the business community and will take our organization to the next level,” said Barbara Lang, president and CEO of the DCCC. “He is a hard-working individual who will offer insight on a variety of issues that will impact the business community in 2004. He is a gem and we are fortunate to have him.”

“We all know — and we want the world to know — that Washington is one of the truly great places to live and do business,” said Trachtenberg in accepting the chair’s gavel. “Our mission is to bring together great universities — like GW — world-class museums, diverse endeavors and businesses of all sizes to enhance our community’s economic well being and turn a series of flashing lights into a steady glow.”
