The definition of personality.
The personality (individuality) of a subject is a mathematical function X that relates his (its) expected relatlve value in any choice situation to the properties of the available courses of action, their possible outcomes, and the relevant environmental variables.
Hence, personality (individuality) is not conceived here as an unobservable intervening variable that is invoked to explain choice, but as an observable function that describes how an individual or system converts a choice situation into an expected relative value for himself or itself. (PS 41)
