Visiting Scholar Roundtable – "Rethinking North Korean Negotiations"

How did North Korea as a weak state negotiate with the United States after the 1990's? LTC Kiwan Shin will attempt to analyze the negotiation strategy and characteristic style of North Korea. In addition, he will discuss the outcomes and implications of the negotiations between North Korea and the U.S. The presentation will also aim to provide a better understanding of inter-Korean negotiations.

LTC Kiwan Shin, is a member of the ROK army. He is currently a visiting scholar at the Sigur Center for Asian Sudies in the Elliott School, GW. He formerly worked as the Assistant Policy adviser for the DCDR of ROK-US Combined Forces Command. He graduated from Seoul National University with an M.A. in Politics, and currently is a Ph.D. candidate at Kyungpook National University, Korea.
