Background

Professor Saunders's research and teaching interests focus on international security and foreign policy. Her main research project examines how leaders shape military interventions, including both the decision to intervene and the choice of intervention strategy.  Her doctoral dissertation, “Wars of Choice: Leadership, Threat Perception, and Military Interventions,” received Yale University’s John Addison Porter Prize, a university-wide student prize for scholarship in any field. She has been a postdoctoral fellow at the Olin Institute for Strategic Studies at Harvard University; a visiting scholar at the American Political Science Association’s Centennial Center; a Brookings Institution Research Fellow in Foreign Policy Studies; and a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow.
