- On January 22, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United States Prince Turki Al-Faisal addressed "The Challenges and Opportunities Facing Saudi Arabia in the 21st Century." Al-Faisal told Elliott School students "The importance of the fields you are studying grows with each day" and that "Today's challenges are not impossible to overcome . The key is cooperation."
- On February 27, GW professor Frank Sesno hosted Tom Ridge for "Getting It Right: A Discussion with Former Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge." The event was sponsored by GW's Public Diplomacy Institute.
- On March 7, The Honorable Timothy E. Wirth, president of The United Nations Foundation, spoke at the Elliott School on "The US-UN Relationship: A Golden Opportunity."
- On March 19, Robert Litwak, director of international security studies at The Woodrow Wilson Center, delivered a lecture on "Regime Change: U.S. Strategy through the Prism of 9/11" at the Elliott School.
- On March 22, Karen DeYoung, associate editor of The Washington Post, spoke about her new book, Soldier: The Life of Colin Powell, at the Elliott School, and signed copies of the book. The talk was sponsored by the MA program in International Affairs at the Elliott School.
- On March 28, the Sigur Center hosted Han Sung–Joo, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, as the speaker for the Center's 11th Annual Gaston Sigur Memorial Lecture, "The Korea Triangle: The Two Koreas between China and the United States."
- On April 10, the Elliott School hosted Ambassador Ibrahim Gambari, special advisor to the UN Secretary-General, at the 2nd ‘The US and the UN: Working Together in the 21st Century' lecture titled, "The United Nations and the International Compact with Iraq." Former Secretary-General Kofi Annan delivered the inaugural lecture in May 2006.
