Background Preparation for Master's Programs

Most graduate programs require demonstrated proficiency in English and a foreign language. Programs with foreign language requirements generally require four semesters (or the equivalent) of a modern foreign language prior to admission. Students who are native English speakers are expected to maintain their foreign language proficiency during their studies in order to pass an oral and reading examination before completing the degree.
