Taking Spam Off the Menu

Information Systems and Services unveiled a new spam filter for GW E-mail. Users must logon to the GW Account Management Center at https://amc.gwu.edu and select “Anti-Spam Options” from the left-hand menu to activate this feature.
While the spam solution is relatively accurate, some messages could be mistakenly marked, so users are encouraged to check their spam folders on a regular basis. ISS cannot restore messages once they are deleted.

Messages in a spam folder count against a user’s mail quota, so if the spam folder is not set to “automatic,” then messages must be deleted from the spam folder on a regular basis to avoid going over quota.

ISS advises that the new spam filter will help control spam, but no tool will eliminate it 100 percent.
